Our volunteers are individuals who, first and foremost, love Chicago theatre. Is this you? Interact with truly dynamic people while playing a vital role in Chicago’s cultural community. Board and Committee Volunteers - Seeking individuals with experience in fields of finance/accounting, fundraising, legal, not-for-profit and real estate. Ideal candidates have diverse networks and/or ties to art-supporting companies in the Chicago area and are willing to contribute about 4-6 hours a month attending board and committee meetings and related events.

Festival and Event Volunteers – Volunteers are essential to all aspects of our festivals and events. Our vibrant team assists with marketing, audience services, crowd control, backstage management, on-stage introductions, and lots of fun in between. Join the team making it happen at Sketchfest, CWFF, Nerdfest, and much more.

Intern WITH US

Prospective interns should have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office Suite. Stage 773 interns may receive course credit, and schedules are arranged to best fit your work or school schedule. In addition, you will receive comps to performances at Stage 773 and be able to meet and network with a large variety of artists.   Please apply through the form below, and email resume, cover letter and references.

Development Intern
Daytime, 8-15 hours/week

This 8-15 hour per week commitment can be fulfilled on one day, or split over two days a week. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Working directly with the Development Manager, the Development Intern will receive important exposure to Stage 773’s fundraising efforts. The Development Intern will gain an understanding of and appreciation for each unique and necessary aspect of creating a sustainable funding base for an arts organization. The Intern will work closely within the Development categories of;  Donors and Individual Giving, Corporate Sponsorships, Grant research and writing, event planning, and Board Management. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Interest in expository and persuasive writing, with strong writing skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience using databases and Microsoft Excel.

  • Interested in building community.

  • Able to provide a small writing sample. College projects and essays are acceptable.

Marketing and Design Intern
Daytime and evening, 10-15 hours/week

Working directly with the Marketing Manager, the intern will assist in promoting Stage 773 productions by implementing marketing strategies, including web and print promotions, special events, group sales and direct marketing. The Intern will also assist with internal market research, web site content, and tenant relations/ communications. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite.

  • Advanced proficiency with full Adobe CS/CC suite.

  • Proficiency with photography and/or video equipment and editing.

  • Experience with social media.

  • Interest in the Chicago sketch, improv, and comedy performing community.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Able to provide a graphic design or multimedia portfolio. College projects are acceptable.

General Business Intern
Daytime and evening, 15 hours/week
Six month commitment

Covering all areas of our business, the General Intern will work with the directors of all departments to give a complete view of the theatre business. This internship will have the opportunity to assist on artistic programs, marketing and development, fundraising, special events, business, technical, and operations.

Winter internship - January 5 through March 31
Spring internship - March 31 through June 1
Summer internship - June 1 through September 1
Fall internship - September 1 through December 23
